Organizational Consulting Services

We work with organizations to provide holistic insights that combine (i) analysis of operating results & performance metrics with (ii) a holistic perspective that views organizations as “living systems“. This approach recognizes that the surrounding context, dynamics and interrelations in a living system underlie and impact organizational performance.

Whenever a client faces an organizational challenge, we do not look to provide ready-made “solutions”, but instead to guide our client towards a deeper, broader and clearer understanding of the issue at hand. We believe the client is in the best position to implement effective solutions and strategies once new insight is obtained.

Obtaining holistic insight involves combining a “left-brain” approach which focuses on analyzing data in a logical manner with “right-brain” perspectives to incorporate intuitive insights, emotional intelligence, systems thinking and “big picture” contextual issues.

Why Use A Holistic Approach?

A holistic, systemic approach is particularly useful for recurring organizational challenges and patterns that seem to defy obvious solutions.

Where a challenge is straightforward, a non-holistic approach applied directly at the level of the issue is often the most appropriate. For an everyday example, consulting a knee specialist for knee pain is an appropriate response. However, if this fails to resolve the issue, taking a broader, holistic approach can open up new solutions. Perhaps the knee pain is not directly about the knee but represents a broader issue such as poor posture, incorrectly lifting weights at the gym, a nutritional issue or a somatized emotional theme.

In a similar fashion, a repetitive pattern of financial issues that seems disconnected from the relevant product or service may reflect an underlying broader organizational or team dynamic.

We take a deep dive into an organization’s current operating landscape, reviewing key indicators such as:

  • Financial and operating results
  • KPIs and productivity metrics
  • Customer, product / service and market dynamics (e.g. Porters 5 forces, SWOT analysis)
  • Organizational structure, decision-making and governance mapping
  • Strategic documents and goals

INSIGHTS include: identifying recurring performance patterns, highlighting areas of untapped potential

We guide clients to enhance and deepen the understanding of organizational performance by applying a holistic overlay. Techniques include:

  • Systems thinking principles
  • Systemic mapping methodologies
  • Creative exploration exercises and dynamics that access intuitive insights and emotional intelligence (e.g. organizational constellations)
  • Visual mapping

INSIGHTS include: identifying underlying root causes and drivers of organizational patterns, gaining contextual frameworks that clarify how interactions between different parts of the organization impact overall performance.

Once clients have new insights, we assist in the co-creation and implement of innovative strategies and solutions.
